The flag of the Netherlands is divided into 3 equal horizontal bands. The top band is red (more precisely clear vermilion, in the middle sets a white band and at the bottom you have a cobalt blue band. The proportion of the flag is 2:3. For example, if the height would be 2 meters, than the length would be 3 meters. The history of the flag goes all the way back to the year 1572 in which this flag was described as the Prince's flag with orange instead of red. In 1596 the orange band was eventually replaced by a red band. In 1937 the red band was reconfirmed and in 1958 its colors were standardized in the NEN3055 normation.
